“I just want to say this: in a field, where only 5% of Latinos are attorneys, I wanted to be an individual that continued to grow that number. Like many people in this world, I have gone through adversity. It was never easy. The support of my family and friends made my goal go from impossible into a reality.
I am beyond fortunate to have been a part of so many organizations and met so many wonderful people. And it’s because of these experiences and the people that I’ve met I am proud to be the person who I am today.”
Mother, Armida writes: “I’m a proud mother to see my son overcome all obstacles to be able to reach his dream of becoming a lawyer. I know in my heart I have raised a great honorable man who will give it his all for his community and I am proud that he is proud of his roots and always willing to help where he can. To watch him grow and become a wonderful human being has been an honor.”
Quiero decir esto: en un campo donde solo el 5% de los latinos son abogados, quería ser alguien que siguiera aumentando ese número. Como muchas personas en este mundo, he pasado por adversidades. Nunca fue fácil. El apoyo de mi familia y amigos hizo que mi objetivo pasará de ser imposible a convertirse en realidad.
Me siento más que afortunado de haber sido parte de tantas organizaciones y de haber conocido a personas maravillosas. Y es gracias a estas experiencias y a las personas que he conocido que estoy orgulloso de ser quien soy hoy.
La madre, Armida, escribe: “Soy una madre orgullosa de ver a mi hijo superar todos los obstáculos para alcanzar su sueño de convertirse en abogado. Jocelyn Marie Onofre Alcantar

Jocelyn shares: “This year marks ten years since my mom passed away. In her absence, my small family has been a tremendous source of strength and support. As I celebrate this graduation season, I want to honor my mom’s memory and show that even though she isn’t here in person, she is here in spirit.
I am deeply grateful to my family for always being there for me, encouraging me, and standing by my side. Their love and support have been invaluable to me, helping me grow and reach this significant milestone.
With their support, I am determined to become a good person and make a positive impact in the world. I plan to pursue my passions in English and the Arts, dedicating myself to my studies and personal growth. My mom’s memory and my family’s unwavering belief in me inspire me to strive for excellence and follow my dreams.”
Jocelyn dice: “Este año se cumplen diez años desde que mi mamá falleció. En su ausencia, mi pequeña familia ha sido una fuente tremenda de fuerza y apoyo. Mientras celebró esta temporada de graduaciones, quiero honrar la memoria de mi mamá y mostrar que aunque no esté aquí físicamente, está presente en espíritu.
Estoy profundamente agradecida con mi familia por estar siempre ahí para mí, animarme y estar a mi lado. Su amor y apoyo han sido invaluables para mí, ayudándome a crecer y alcanzar este hito significativo.
Con su apoyo, estoy decidida a ser una buena persona y tener un impacto positivo en el mundo. Planeo seguir mis pasiones en inglés y las artes, dedicándome a mis estudios y crecimiento personal. El recuerdo de mi mamá y la creencia inquebrantable de mi familia en mí me inspiran a esforzarme por la excelencia y seguir mis sueños.”
Jaquelin Vera Aguirre
(Jaquelin Vera Aguirre, Golden West High School, Visalia, Calif.)
Jaquelin was awarded the Seal of Biliteracy, a California Scholarship Federation Lifetime Member, and graduated with an overall GPA of 4.02. Her plans after High School are to attend College of the Sequoias for two years and then transfer to a four-year University.
Parents write; ” We are very proud of you Jaquelin for graduating with Honors from Golden West High School. We hope this is just the beginning to achieving all your goals. We love you and you can always count on our support.”
Jaquelin recibió el Sello de Biliteracidad, es miembro de por vida de la Federación de Becas de California, y se graduó con un promedio general de 4.02. Sus planes después de la preparatoria son asistir al College of the Sequoias por dos años y luego transferirse a una universidad de cuatro años.

Adrian Cisneros Rivas

Adrian shared his gratitude towards Ivanhoe, “I appreciate Ivanhoe Elementary, Valley Oak Middle School, and Golden West High School for always motivating me and recognizing my achievements.” Adrian was a recipient of a $250 scholarship from Ivanhoe Elementary School. He will be attending Fresno State University with the goal of becoming a math teacher.
Adrián expresó su gratitud hacia Ivanhoe: “Agradezco a la Primaria Ivanhoe, a la Secundaria Valley Oak y a la Preparatoria Golden West por motivarme siempre y reconocer mis logros.” Adrián fue beneficiario de una beca de $250 de la escuela Primaria de Ivanhoe. Marisol Mendoza

Marisol delivered a speech at her graduation. Although she has only been in the United States for two years she was able to share that although she doesn’t have her parents present because they are in Mexico, to share this special milestone with friends and family is very special. She said: “If I can do it, so can you!” She would like to obtain a job in a school setting and she would also like to coach soccer for youth ages 5 to 8.
Marisol dio un discurso en su graduación. Aunque solo ha estado en Estados Unidos durante dos años y no tiene a sus padres presentes porque están en México, compartir este hito especial con amigos y familiares es muy significativo para ella. Ella dijo: “¡Si yo puedo hacerlo, ustedes también pueden!”. Marisol desea obtener un trabajo en un entorno escolar y también le gustaría entrenar fútbol para jóvenes de cinco a ocho años.

Mother Amalia shares that her son was recognized as an academic scholar, he received a Golden State seal on his diploma along with an academic achievement award for graduating with a GPA of 4.17. Luis is a great student who participated in baseball and football, and participated in AVID for his first three years of high school. He received numerous academic awards and he has made his family very proud.
“Your parents are very proud of you, Luis. You are a great son and brother to your sibling. Congratulations! On to the next chapter.” Luis plans to attend Fresno State and will be pursuing a career in business.
Su madre Amalia comparte que su hijo fue reconocido como académico destacado, recibió el Sello del Estado Dorado en su diploma junto con un premio por logros académicos por graduarse con un promedio de calificaciones de 4.17. Luis es un excelente estudiante que participó en béisbol y fútbol y participo en AVID los primero tres anos de la preparatoria, recibió numerosos premios académicos y ha llenado de orgullo a su familia.

Hannah Shackelford

Hannah’s mother, Amber, writes: “Through all of your challenges and having two knee surgeries you never cease to amaze me. You are proof that you can power through no matter what struggles come your way! We are so proud of you and we are so excited about what you bring to the world. Hannah is going to school to become a paramedic.”
