Every ten years, governments from local to federal levels begin a “redistricting” process where new boundaries for political representation are created to adjust for population changes.

The Tulare County 2021 Advisory Commission on Supervisorial Redistricting will be hosting an Informational and Listening Session on July 29th to share updates on this process with interested stakeholders and local residents. There will be opportunity for public comment and members of the public will be allowed to submit their own maps to be considered for the redistricting process.

The meeting will be held in-person at the Parks & Community Services Center at 6:30 PM at 1390 East Elizabeth Way, Dinuba, CA 93618.

This redistricting effort is one of the many processes informed by the results of the 2020 Census. As many Ivanhoe residents might remember, the 2020 Census was conducted and many homes received letters and at-home visits with surveys attempting to determine the population size of Ivanhoe.

This means that local residents’ political representation can potentially change depending on the process, which is yet to unfold. The Federal government is expected to release Census data to inform this process by September 30, 2021 and the redistricting process must be completed by December 15th, 2021.

When the current supervisorial districts were established in 2010, District Four, which includes communities like Ivanhoe, Goshen, Dinuba, Monson, Cutler and Orosi,

was the area with the largest percentage of Latino residents at 66,391 of 87,562  or 75.82%
