Premios Mujeres del Año del Distrito 4 del Condado de Tulare Por Esmeralda García, Ivanhoe Sol

El Mes de la Historia de la Mujer mejora a los líderes locales del Condado de Tulare

 

Como parte del Mes de la Historia de la Mujer, El supervisor del condado de Tulare, Eddie Valero, reconoció y celebró a mujeres increíbles en el Distrito 4 el tercer premio anual Mujeres del año con un brunch grupal, mientras compartía sus historias de impacto. Con siete categorías diferentes y nueve mujeres honradas este año, este evento fue un hermoso recordatorio de todas las mujeres increíbles que viven, trabajan y cuidan del condado de Tulare. 

 

La ceremonia de premiación se organizó gracias al arduo trabajo de Michelle Warkentin como coordinadora del programa, Erica Gonzales, Shelly Henderson, Sandy Sills y Yolanda Valdez como jueces del evento. El evento también fue patrocinado por la asambleísta Devon Mathis, la senadora Melissa Hurtado, Southern California Edison, la Liga de Mujeres México Americanas del Condado de Tulare y el Club de Leones Dinuba. 

 

Las categorías de premios incluyeron Arte y cultura, negocios o trabajo, salud y bienestar, participación / defensa de la comunidad, seguridad pública / militares / veteranos, educación y jóvenes (de 14 a 24 años).

Los diez ganadores del premio recibieron una placa con una hermosa obra de arte creada por Brenda Flores, estudiante de último año de secundaria en el Distrito 4 del Condado. Al explicar su inspiración, Brenda compartió “ La persona que elijo para Mujer del año es mi madre… Los pesos en su espalda significan que ha llevado el peso del mundo sobre sus hombros. .. la mano está ahí para representar a todas las mujeres en general para dar su apoyo … la puesta de sol está ahí para dar esperanza ”. 

 

Ivanhoe Local Recibe Reconocimiento

 

Entre las nueve mujeres seleccionadas reconocidas se encontraba la Presidenta del Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe, Mayra Becerra. El premio de Mayra fue para la categoría “Compromiso con la comunidad”. Su nominadora expresó cómo Mayra es una persona ejemplar, humilde y diligente. 

 

Mayra actualmente está obteniendo su crédito docente para convertirse en maestra de tiempo completo y es madre soltera de cuatro hijos. Además, es la presidenta del Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe y ha apoyado muchos eventos comunitarios como el Día de Hacer la Diferencia, clínicas de vacunación de covid, distribuciones de alimentos comunitarios y se desempeña como editora asociada del Ivanhoe Sol.

 

Al recibir su premio, Mayra compartió: “Me encanta trabajar para elevar mi comunidad para amigos, familiares y amigos que se han convertido en familia. Construir conexiones, unir recursos, trabajar juntos para construir una comunidad sólida es una de mis principales prioridades. Con el Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe, he asumido diferentes proyectos mientras aprendía en el camino. Por ejemplo, nuestro periódico bilingüe mensual, The Ivanhoe Sol, que comenzó como una idea y ahora se ha estado imprimiendo durante todo un año, y nuestro comité asesor de jóvenes es un faro de luz con mentes jóvenes. Esto ha sido posible con el arduo trabajo del Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe así como con el Ivanhoe Sol porque juntos estamos aprendiendo y estamos creciendo, sin ellos estaría perdido. Y, sin embargo, algunos días son más duros que otros. Al final del día, me vuelvo hacia mis hijos. Mis hijos son mi motivación. Al crear una comunidad más fuerte y segura, sé que les estoy allanando el camino. ¿Cuándo deciden continuar por el mismo camino o por una ruta diferente? Quiero que tengan acceso a una vida mejor.
