La juventud hoy en nuestra comunidad, líderes del mañana

Un nuevo grupo de jóvenes se formó para apoyar a los líderes comunitarios jóvenes en Ivanhoe

Apoyar a los jóvenes dentro de Ivanhoe ha sido una preocupación creciente para los defensores de la comunidad local, pero ha habido oportunidades mínimas para que los jóvenes se involucren de manera significativa fuera del entorno escolar. Con el comienzo de un nuevo año, el Comité Asesor Juvenil de Ivanhoe ha sido creado por el Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe para permitir que los jóvenes de Ivanhoe tengan un lugar seguro en el que puedan expresar sus opiniones, desarrollar habilidades interpersonales, construir relaciones y aprender a tomar acción para abordar sus preocupaciones en la comunidad en la que viven.  

 

Los miembros actuales del Comité Asesor Juvenil de Ivanhoe incluyen: Daizzy, José Alberto, Marvin, Moisés, Jesús, Stephen, Génesis, Chris, Savannah, Ezra, Nayeli y Arely. Estos estudiantes representan varias perspectivas en la comunidad y asisten a varias escuelas en el área que incluyen: College of the Sequoias, Golden West High School, Valley Oak Middle School, Ivanhoe Elementary School, Golden Oak Elementary School y Cutler-Orosi. Cualquier joven que resida en Ivanhoe está invitado a participar.

 

Estas reuniones se llevan a cabo virtualmente a través de Zoom y son organizadas por la presidenta del Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe, Mayra Becerra. Las reuniones comenzaron en enero y se llevan a cabo dos veces al mes, los martes por la noche a las 6 p.m. Becerra dice: “Estamos llegando a nuestros jóvenes porque todo lo que hacemos es por ellos. Sus ideas y visiones son valiosas para nosotros. El futuro de Ivanhoe les pertenece ”. 

 

Visión de la juventud para un Ivanhoe mejor

Según los participantes, las primeras reuniones del Consejo Asesor de la Juventud se diseñaron para identificar prioridades para futuras mejoras en la comunidad. Sus respuestas variaron, pero incluyeron un fuerte acuerdo para más aceras, el desarrollo de un parque de patinaje, más opciones de deportes para jóvenes, eventos comunitarios en persona, un autocine de películas y un centro comunitario. Los miembros también han tenido la oportunidad de expresar ideas sobre lo que les gustaría que incluyeran sus reuniones para hacerlas más divertidas, atractivas e inclusivas. Con sus aportes, las reuniones futuras incluirán más discusiones de registro personal, artes y manualidades y juegos interactivos.  

    

   En la reunión más reciente celebrada el martes 16 de febrero, el enfoque principal fue desarrollar habilidades de trabajo en equipo mientras se diseñaba un parque de patinaje ideal para Ivanhoe. Los jóvenes participaron en el nombre y diseño del parque y la ubicación de todo lo que querían en el parque. Un camino / sendero que rodea todo el parque para que los miembros de la comunidad y las mascotas puedan caminar de manera segura, rampas para patinar en el centro del parque y canchas de baloncesto son solo algunas de las actividades previstas como parte del parque. Se diseñó un plano simple y será finalizado con colores por José Alberto, un estudiante de último año en Golden West High School. 

 

Este programa también permite responsabilidades de liderazgo adicionales. Por ejemplo, Stephen, un estudiante de séptimo grado en Valley Oak se ofreció como voluntario para asistir a la reunión de febrero del Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe como representante del Comité Asesor Juvenil de Ivanhoe. Tomará notas y compartirá información con sus compañeros en su próxima reunión de jóvenes.

 

Oportunidades para la participación de los jóvenes 

 

Actualmente hay varias oportunidades orientadas a los jóvenes para que los miembros de la comunidad participen. Por ejemplo, los jóvenes de Ivanheo pueden enviar obras de arte y nominaciones para los Premios Mujeres del Año del Condado de Tulare de este año para celebrar el Mes de la Historia de la Mujer. Otras oportunidades incluyen la creación de arte rupestre para la Mini Biblioteca y el acceso a oportunidades de becas a través de la página web principal de Golden West High School. 

 

A partir del 1 de marzo, el Tránsito del Área del Condado de Tulare (TCat) también ofrecerá viajes gratis a los pasajeros jóvenes entre las edades de 7 a 18 con una identificación de estudiante de K-12 o cualquier identificación emitida por el gobierno con fecha de nacimiento.
