Carta abierta a los jóvenes de Ivanhoe

Fue en marzo de 2020 cuando sus padres recibieron la llamada telefónica de su escuela informándoles que la escuela está cerrada debido al COVID-19. Han pasado diecisiete meses desde que pisaste las instalaciones  de tu escuela con algún tipo de “normalidad”. “La pandemia” es la causa de muchas de tus luchas y el freno a tus mundos estructurados. Muchos de los niños con los que he tenido conversaciones con respecto al regreso a la escuela han manifestado que tienen miedo y preocupación por lo “diferente” que será. 

 La ansiedad ha comenzado debido a estar fuera de la escuela durante más de un año. Otros están emocionados porque extrañan a sus amigos y al personal de la escuela con quienes confiaban en mejorar sus días. Algunos no están contentos con la idea de regresar y prefieren quedarse en casa y continuar con el aprendizaje a distancia, ya que se han vuelto familiares y ya no les gustaría regresar. 

Cualquiera que sea la categoría en la que se encuentre, lo más importante que me gustaría dejarles hoy es recordarles a todos que no están solos y que muchos otros jóvenes sienten lo mismo que ustedes.

 El aprendizaje a distancia se ha convertido en algo a lo que la mayoría de los estudiantes se han acostumbrado, mientras  muchos otros continúan teniendo dificultades para acostumbrarse al aprendizaje a distancia. Despertarse a las 7 am. para estar listo para salir de casa a las 7:30 am. Todos los días ha cambiado a levantarse de la cama e iniciar sesión en su computadora para la clase. Muchos de ustedes están solos en casa y no tienen a nadie allí que les recuerde y los despierte para comenzar con su día, ya que mamá, papá o tutor se han ido a trabajar. 

Antes de COVD-19, todos estaban acostumbrados a levantarse a la misma hora todas las mañanas y llegar a la escuela a tiempo y seguir un horario de 8 horas al día, 5 días a la semana. Estos son los horarios y sistemas que usted, sus padres y la escuela han establecido para ayudarlos a ser responsables y puntuales a medida que se desarrollan y se convierten en un adulto responsable. En mi opinión, aquí es donde todos ustedes tendrán dificultades para el próximo agosto, cuando la escuela se reanude y vuelva al aprendizaje en persona. 

Los días no estructurados suelen ser durante las vacaciones de primavera, invierno y verano, ya que la mayoría de ustedes puede quedarse despierto hasta tarde y dormir hasta tarde. Una vez que se reanuda la escuela, retoman donde lo dejaron y vuelven a sus horarios normales.

 

Despertarse a una hora determinada todos los días y volver a su rutina y horario será un desafío y una dificultad para muchos de ustedes. Recuerda que todos estamos en el mismo barco y que no estás solo en esta batalla. 

 Configurar la alarma todas las noches para la hora de acostarse y despertarse será la forma más fácil de mantener el rumbo. Se necesitan entre 21 y 30 días para que cualquier cosa que hagamos se convierta en un hábito en nuestras vidas. Cíñete a esto y será más fácil a medida que pasen los días.

 Otro tema que me gustaría cubrir con todos ustedes es la socialización, lo que significa interactuar con sus compañeros y otros en la escuela durante tiempos estructurados y no estructurados. Recuerde que no será el único que tenga dificultades para volver al ritmo de esto. Si eres de los que no lo pasa mal con esto, sé un buen amigo y ayuda a aquellos que la estén pasando mal con todos estos cambios. 

La escuela se reanudará a los horarios normales en agosto, recuerden que hay muchos miembros del personal diferentes en su sitio escolar para ayudarlos, guiarlos y brindarles cualquier tipo de apoyo que puedas necesitar. 

Se proporciona apoyo emocional o apoyo académico en el centro de asesoramiento. NO tenga miedo de acercarse a alguien que esté allí, ya que están allí para ayudarlo con cualquier tipo de lucha que tenga. Si le resulta difícil entrar, recuerde que puede ir al recreo, el tiempo del almuerzo o simplemente enviarles un correo electrónico y se comunicarán con usted. Espero que todos vuelvan a la rutina de las cosas de manera rápida y exitosa.
