VUSD pide al estado que elimine el mandato de la máscara

VISALIA – El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Visalia se convirtió en la última escuela en enviar una carta a los funcionarios estatales pidiendo que el enmascaramiento interior sea una recomendación y no un mandato.

 

La junta aprobó la carta en su reunión del 10 de agosto en medio de otra ronda de comentarios de los padres pidiendo que la junta escolar tenga el control local de la toma de decisiones cuando se trata de enmascaramiento y otros protocolos de seguridad de COVID-19. En reuniones anteriores del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Visalia (VUSD), los padres describieron el uso de máscaras durante un día completo de instrucción como psicológicamente condenatorio, pañales faciales y aumento de la probabilidad de comportamiento inmoral. En su reunión más reciente, una madre describió el mandato como opresivo. Rachel Lewis amenazó con sacar a su hijo del distrito y alentó a otros a hacer lo mismo.

 

“He terminado de permitir que esta junta, el sindicato de maestros y el gobierno violen y dañen a mi hijo”, dijo Lewis. “Ustedes son depredadores. No estás protegiendo a los niños, estás concediendo, cumpliendo y perpetrando esta malicia “.

 

La carta no fue tan lejos como para desafiar el mandato de la máscara, diciendo que el distrito comprende su obligación legal de seguir la guía estatal, sino que pide a los funcionarios estatales que “reconsideren” su “mandato único para todos” y “consideren condiciones locales.”

 

“Con este fin, la Junta de VUSD solicita formalmente al Oficial de Salud Pública del Estado y al CDPH que hagan que el mandato de la máscara sea una recomendación para que el VUSD y otros distritos escolares en California puedan trabajar con los funcionarios de salud de nuestro condado local para tomar medidas calculadas y medidas para operar las escuelas durante el pandemia basada en las condiciones locales ”, dice la carta.

 

Joseph Beaton, científico del laboratorio del hospital, dijo que el distrito tardó demasiado en redactar y aprobar la carta con la escuela a partir de la semana pasada. Naomi Bardach, líder del equipo de Escuelas Seguras para Todos del Departamento de Salud Pública de California. Soleno citó un informe del 5 de agosto publicado por Valley Children’s Hospital que muestra el aumento en las hospitalizaciones por COVID-19 y las visitas al departamento de emergencias de niños.
