El Asesor Juvenil de Ivanhoe continúa el activismo local

El Grupo Juvenil de Ivanhoe se formó en el otoño de 2020 para identificar las necesidades de los grupos demográficos más jóvenes de la comunidad de Ivanhoe. Este grupo diverso está formado por jóvenes desde la escuela primaria hasta las edades universitarias con intereses que van desde los juegos, el patinaje y el espíritu empresarial. 

 

Actualmente, el grupo se reúne virtualmente 1 o 2 veces al mes el primer y tercer martes del mes a las 6 pm con el objetivo de cultivar sus mentes para continuar creciendo y retribuir a sus comunidades.

 

Eventos de la Comunidad

El Grupo Juvenil de Ivanhoe sigue juntas de trabajo para planificar actividades y eventos para los hijos de Ivanhoe. Durante las últimas semanas, el grupo ha estado haciendo una lluvia de ideas sobre cómo llevar eventos como noches de cine al área en medio de una pandemia, pero se han enfrentado a algunos desafíos. Aunque el grupo se ha adentrado en su creatividad, la logística de identificar una ubicación lo suficientemente grande como para que la gente esté bien espaciada continúa obstaculizando algunas de las ideas iniciales que han desarrollado. 

 

Son optimistas de que más miembros de la comunidad puedan obtener su vacuna COVID-19 para permitir una mayor seguridad en el área. Esto es algo que es prometedor con la nueva guía para el Centro de Control de Enfermedades de los Estados Unidos de que los jóvenes de 12 a 15 años ahora son elegibles para la vacuna COVID-19.

Frustraciones con la planificación de eventos no han impedido que el grupo de jóvenes avance en temas que consideran importantes para Ivanhoe. Este grupo se está asociando actualmente con el Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe para desarrollar habilidades de defensa. Estas habilidades son importantes ya que el grupo de jóvenes continúa expresando interés en abogar por más vegetación, apoyo para los estudiantes y un mejor ambiente. 

Como patrocinador del Grupo Yuth, el Consejo Comunitario de Ivanhoe también los está apoyando para conectar no solo a este grupo, sino también a los tutores de cualquier estudiante. Además de estos esfuerzos, el grupo de jóvenes también ha escrito a varios líderes comunitarios de los que desean aprender. 

 

Celebrandolos logros de la juventud local

Algunos de este 2 de junio, dos de los jóvenes participantes, José Becerra y Marvin González, se graduarán de Golden West High School. El 8de Junio el grupo de jóvenes será el anfitrión de una pequeña ceremonia virtual para sus graduados y celebrar el comienzo del verano para el resto del grupo. Los miembros del grupo de jóvenes quieren asegurarse de que haya un espacio positivo para celebrar cada uno de los grandes y pequeños logros de nuestros jóvenes.
